Canon 16-35mm Lens Review

My Canon 16-35mm f2.8 Review

I’ve been a photography enthusiast for about twenty years now, mostly using Canon equipment.Recently, I took the plunge into the world of professional photography, after I was asked to shoot some wedding portraits, as well as some promotional stills for last spring’s Lilac Festival (I live in upstate New York).

Since then, I’ve actually had a modest success as a professional photographer and the client list keeps building.

Today, I’m going to tell you about my experiences with the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens. For some, it may be quite an investment as far as lenses go, but once you try out the EF 16-35mm lens and see the results, I think you will be more than pleased.

The Canon EF16-35mm II is a high end lens that takes fantastic edge to edge landscape and portrait pictures, with an incredible depth of field focus, and brilliant clarity that people have come to expect from the Canon L Series.

In this review, I go into my own experiences, while also touching on the technical specs, tips & tricks for the Canon EF 16-35mm, as well as how it stands up against other comparable wide angle lenses for SLR cameras.

Сanon 270ex ii Flash

Meet Canon Speedlite 270ex ii

For the longest time, I was looking for a great all-purpose flash for my SLR camera, and the Canon Speedlite 270EX II Flash is exactly what I needed.

When I first started getting into digital photography, I went by the Boy Scouts’ motto of “Be Prepared.”

Unfortunately, this had me hauling around my camera and every single lens and flash I owned, which meant that I would miss tons of photo opportunities because I was taking so long to set up and find the perfect lens and flash combinations, or (during nature shoots) scare off my subject matter.

Luckily, I picked up the 270EX II and my job has become a lot easier.

Canon Speedlite 270EX II Flash Features

Compact & Lightweight – The 270EX II weighs in at 8.8 ounces, and the compact design means you can take it anywhere without adding a lot of bulk to your camera. The metal shoe mount means the Speedlite 270EX II is easy to set up and disassemble on the fly.

Great Flash Coverage – The Canon 270EX II has numerous settings, so I can get lighting coverage from 28mm full-frame, all the way up to 72 feet at ISO 100, and even 50mm full frame lighting up to 89 feet.

Flexibility – Even though the 270EX II is compact, the flash swivels to give a vertical bounce of up to 90 degrees.

Wireless Slave Function – For more complex shots in the studio, at an event, or out in the field, the Speedlite 270EX II Flash can be used in a slave chain and triggered wirelessly with a 2 second delay.

AF Assist – The Canon Speedlite 270EX II features an autofocus assist beam, so you can take advantage of the intermittent flash firing system.

Tele/Wide Function – The 270EX II allows you to easily adjust your angle of illumination, as well as the guide number so you can match your shooting conditions for the perfect flash photos.

Canon Speedlite 270EX II Best Uses

Since purchasing the Canon Speedlite 270EX II Flash, I’ve been playing around with various environments and subjects to see what works best.

I’ve taken it to formal parties, sporting events, public gardens, the zoo, out in the wild, and even on evening road trips, just to see how versatile the 270EX II really is.

My conclusion is that for such a compact and lightweight flash, the Speedlite 270EX II really is great for shooting in every environment.

The 270EX II flash provides even lighting coverage at short and long distances, and during indoor sessions, I was able to take shots with the 270EX II straight on, and with a bounced flash, without any glare at all.

In short, I have resorted to bringing the Canon 270EX II with me wherever I go – not just for scheduled photo shoots, but for when those candid and impromptu photo opportunities arise.

After going back to my friends who are professional photographers and hobbyists, I’ve found out that all of them own the 270EX II, and they have gotten into the habit of bringing it everywhere they go, as well.

Bottom Line

When it comes to SLR cameras, many flashes are bulky and give too much power for what you need. This is why Canon Labs developed the Speedlite 270EX II Flash.

Lightweight, compact, and loaded with more features than any other external flash in its class, the 270EX II provides you with even lighting for both close-up and telephoto shots, so that your pictures turn out perfect every time. In the professional studio, or out in the wild, the Canon Speedlite 270EX II Flash packs the punch you need, without having to spend a lot of money, or a lot of time setting up.

For the best all-purpose flash for your SLR Camera, do yourself a favor and pick up the Canon Speedlite 270EX II.

Canon Speedlite 430ex ii Flash

A few months ago, I was in the market for a new shoe-mounted flash for my Canon SLR camera.

While I was pleased with the default flash, I wanted something that could accurately be adjusted for distance, as well as the size of my subject matter.

After talking with some of my photography friends and doing a bit of research, I decided to purchase the Canon 430EX II Speedlight Flash.

Canon 430ex ii is considered one of the best Canon flashes

The 430EX II has since become my “go to” shoe mounted flash for everything from nature photography, macro shots, and even action photographs.

Introduction to Canon 24-105mm f4 Lens

About 3 months ago, I decided to upgrade my camera lenses. For about a decade now, I’ve been using Canon SLR cameras exclusively, but never really took the plunge into their L-Series of lenses. It was after a friend of mine got a set of photos shown in a gallery, that I decided to ask him what types of lenses he uses.
