We witnessed radical changes in the mindset of most companies in only the last 5-7 years. They changed their attitude towards the Internet and the vision of expediency and form of their presence on it.
Many companies initially considered their site an opportunity to inform the clients in a timely manner and demonstrate their products. Now the single thought of independence from retail distributors and resellers, cost reduction and opportunities to control the final price make them think of creating their own e-shops, and single out E-commerce as one of the priority lines of their development. Their own website turns into a powerful and most promising marketing tool to introduce and promote their brand in the market. Thanks to the Internet every company now gets more than 1 billion potential buyers, which theoretically turns Internet users into the largest existing and possible product market of all. And more importantly – a most rapidly growing one.
And that is just a small list of facts and trends, which show the place the Internet will assume in the life of people and companies in the near future. And extensive development of Wi-Fi wireless technology will only increase not only the total number of Internet users, but also the access rate by the existing ones.
I hope my short introduction will let you take a different look at the benefits of having your own website in the modern world of information.
Most distressingly, all my attempts to find any useful information, advise you on how to make a website or at least a comprehensive discussion of problems, ideas and trends have failed. I believe few will want to think about their mistakes and errors, to tell about their failures and disappointments, or perhaps, just spend time writing about their experience.

For my part I will try to share with you all the doubts, problems and discoveries I faced when creating my website, to give advice to those, who are only thinking about that, to draw your attention to controversial issues and to do my best so that many of you could learn lessons and benefit from my experience.

I would like to say that creating a website is a fascinating occupation, but at the same time be ready for long, routine, almost daily work, which will require your patience and dedication.
First you will have to consider the following questions.
1) Idea and Design! – I found these two points to be the most interconnected. First of all, you must understand what you need your own website for. Will it be just an attempt to follow the trend? Do you see it only as a means to demonstrate your work to friends and acquaintances? Do you want to turn it into a small e-shop? Or will the website in addition contain a certain idea? After all, the idea defines/determines the business aspect of photography it will be aimed at. Will your site differ in any way from millions of other sites? Will you manage to find your niche, your segment of customers, your place in the huge Internet and the modern photography business?
Design will allow you to make it memorable and not only to accentuate all the key points, but also to beautifully present the gist of your idea and concept. After all, nothing ruins the impression of a photographer more than the bad design of his website. Perhaps, that is why most professional photographers are rather indifferent to and mistrusting of such photograph archives as Flickr.com, Photobucket.com, etc, where profiles are stereotyped and typical. Some see it improper to be presented by a regular profile instead of a real website. Others consider the decision to promote the domain of the intermediary portal and not their site or brand name with their art to be just short-sighted. And maybe the thing is that each photographer is already a strong personality per se and site design is a kind of representation of you as a person.
