The 1.8 is much sharper wide open and has a higher resolution at f 5.6
Get a girlfriend.,this isnt the way too get a hardone.Or you must buy a Canon EF 400mm f1.2 L IS USM.
Why dint U get the 85?
@gonetoworkbbackin5mi I eventually did get the 85 also and I made the right choice getting the 50 first. The 85 is a very niche portrait only lens.

I had 50 1.4 and it was kinda excellent. Compared to that 1.8 is rubbish and then again, compared to 1.2, 1.4 is rubbish.
